If you suspect you might have Lyme disease, you should seek a badania na boreliozę w laboratorium. In the past, the best way to determine whether you have the disease is through blood tests, but today’s technologies have changed the game significantly. Researchers have been able to identify the genome sequences of multiple strains of B. burgdorferi. These tests will be combined with microarray technology, imaging, and proteomics to provide improved diagnostic tools and new insights into the pathogenesis of Lyme disease.

New Advances in Lyme Disease Diagnosis

The results of an ELISA test indicate whether you have antibodies to the antibodies that cause Lyme disease. If the antibodies are present in the blood, you are considered to have Lyme disease. However, you should not be alarmed if the result comes back negative. This is because the antibodies that cause Lyme disease remain in the blood long after the disease has been treated. You may feel lightheaded or dizzy following the test, so you should wait until the bleeding stops before leaving the area.

Currently, only one laboratory test is approved by the FDA. The test identifies the presence of antibodies in the blood, which is produced by the immune system in response to the disease. Unfortunately, this test is inaccurate for early Lyme disease. It misses the disease in 29 to 40% of cases when it is still very mild, and only detects the disease 87 percent of the time once the disease has spread to the nervous system. However, a newer test, approved by the FDA, is a 97 percent accurate test.
